Hello,

Does IP addresses that used to be assigned but now freed should eventually
show as Available in Management / Address Space?

I am expecting this but it might be a misunderstanding on my part. I have
many IP addresses that have been freed weeks ago but still shows as
Discovered or Static in Management / Address Space.

Thanks for your help,
Bernard

How was the address freed?

Your question makes me have a doubt... I have the feeling I doing
something wrong...

When I meant freed, I meant the servers using it have been stopped.

Hey Bernard,

We don't use any of the autodiscovery of Netdot, just the IPAM
portion. That said, are you hoping for things to automagically work,
or are you just not clicking "delete" for the address?

Ohhhhh I see!!!! Misunderstanding on my part.. :(

Let's state my problem. I manage a networking and development lab where
machines, mostly VMs,appear and disappear. Many of those VMs are temporary
for development or testing purpose and eventually swiped. When VMs are
shutdown and swiped, I am most of the time not informed of this even though
I asked to be informed. Therefore, I try to find an easy way to know which
IPs are used and which one are freed.

Of course, I can delete the IP in NetDot but it means to check all IPs one
by one which is time consuming. Therefore, yes I look for something to
automagically do the job for me.

Thanks

I just searched the etc/Default.conf for the string "auto" and didn't
see anything that would auto delete blocks for you.

I would perhaps suggest using the "last_seen" field of the ipblock
table and using the REST interface to delete things that haven't been
seen in X days.

Forgot to CC the list.

Actually, the prune_db.pl script under the bin/ directory has an option
to delete "Discovered" IP addresses older than a given number of days.
